During the time of the philosopher, the Chinese state consisted of a number of small kingdoms (principalities) such as Wei, Lu, Wu, Tsin, Tsi, Chu. That period has gone down in history as a period of unrest.
It is noted that in those circumstances, the desire to restore the rules of justice and healthy governance in the society prompted Confucius to engage in government activities.
Seeing the resistance of the officials against this, the philosopher decided to write a book about the ideal management rules in the state and society.
