Purposely distorting of truth and reality is called lie (false). The lie can also be seen in the fabricate of the absent. Logically misleading thinking and its product can be a lie.
There is such a distinction in philosophy. From a moral standpoint, mistake is a honest non-truth, but the lie is a dishonest non-truth. In most moral schools, however, the "savior lie" or "lie in the name of peace" is judged differently, is appreciated. However, according to the philosopher I.Kant, that is possible to forgive the lie said for the sake of kindness, but you can not justify it.
